To produce a domed roof, Fig. 2, the generating member 4 is formed as an arcuate beam, supported on a central prop at one end, and a peripheral guide way at the other end. A similarly shaped beam 7, similarly supported is used to support the other end of a section of fabric to cast the first sector, after which the generating member alone is employed. To construct a shaft, diametrically opposed guideways 11 support two arcuate beams 13 which together form the generating member. The fabric can be supported by guide bars which in turn are supported by the generating member.
