Abstract

130,539. Paterson, A. D. Sept. 27, 1918. Spray carburettors.-A temperature-control device comprises a valve chamber with separate inlets 17, 16 for heated and cold air and a fuel nozzle 15 in each, the cold air inlet 16 being the larger. A valve 28 in the chamber controls both inlets and the mixture outlet. In the form shown, the nozzles 15 are supplied from the float chamber 1 and regulated by needle valves 19. The inlet 17 for hot air leads to a narrow port 26 in the valve chamber. The valve 28 comprises a central web 28<a> with flanges 31, 32 and upper and lower disks 29, 30; the flange 32 covers the port 26 when the valve is closed. When the valve is turned to open the mixture outlet, the hot-air port 26 is first opened, and the cold-air port is then opened proportionately to the mixture outlet. The valve is actuated by means of an arm 38, the movement of which in either direction is limited by a stop. The cover 8 of the float-chamber is secured by means of a plate 9 carried by the cover and engaging bayonet .slots in the wall of the chamber. The float is guided by the needlevalve 3 and a pin 5.
