1305282 N - alkoxymethyl - 2,3 - epoxy carboxylic acid amides BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 6 May 1970 [7 May 1969] 21789/70 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R 1 and R 2 each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl C 1-4 radical and R 3 represents an organic radical such that R<SP>3</SP>OH denotes an alcohol. They are prepared by reacting the appropriate R 1 , R 2 -substituted 2,3-epoxy carboxylic acid amide with formaldehyde to form the corresponding N-methylol-2,3-epoxy carboxylic acid amide and reacting this with an alcohol R<SP>3</SP>OH in the presence of an inorganic or organic acid present in an amount from 0À05 to 5 weight per cent based on the total reaction mixture. N - methylol - 2,3 - epoxy propionic acid amide is prepared by reacting glycidamide with formaldehyde. The invention also comprises an insecticidal or fungicidal composition comprising a compound according to the invention together with a solid or liquid carrier.
