1305102 Vulcanizing rubber VSESOJUZKY NAUCHNO ISSLEDOVATELSKY I KONSTRUKTORSKO TEKHNOLOGICHESKY INSTITUT RESINOVOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI 6 March 1970 10770/70 Headings C3C and C3E A continuous method of vulcanizing a rubber article comprises heat treating the article by passing it through a thermally conducting medium comprising a powdered metal, an oxide thereof, said metal and oxide having magnetic or electroconductive properties, molten lead, molten Wood's metal, a eutectic melt of metal salts, or a mixture of one of the said powders with one of the said melts, and subjecting the said medium to the action of pulse loads created by an alternating current magnetic field or by electrohydraulic shocks. Talc may be mixed with the powdered material. In one example, illustrated by Fig. 4, rubber article 32 containing a foaming agent is fed into device 34 containing heat carrier 35, consisting of powdered material obtained from grinding powders. A magnetic field is set up by electric windings 36. The vulcanizate is cleaned by action of a magnetic field in attachment 37. In the other example, a heat carrier medium comprising KNO 3 /NaNO 2 / NaNO 3 eutectic melt is subjected to the action of a magnetic field or to a spark discharge as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown).
