Abstract

1305054 Integrated steam cracking ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 6 April 1970 16245/70 Heading C5E An integrated steam cracking process comprises (a) mixing the feedstock, e.g. S containing gas oil with an unstable unsaturated cracked fraction recovered from steam cracking and a H 2 containing gas (b) hydrofining and hydrodesulphurizing the blend at 450-750‹ F., 200-1,800 p.s.i.g. in the presence of the gas under a catalyst comprising Group VIB or Group VIII metals or salts or mixtures of the two groups e.g. cobalt molybdate or nickel molybdate supported on alumina. (c) recovering a recycle gas fraction from the mixture, (d) fractionating the treated blend (in lower A) to recover a stable gasoline fraction, e.g. C 5 350‹ F. for blending and a bottoms fraction of reduced S content (e) steam cracking the bottoms fractions (f) recovering an unstable cracked fraction from the cracked products and passing it to step (a) for blending with the feed. The C 5 cut may be hydrogenated further and solvent entracted to yield paraffins and aromatics.
