Abstract

1302962 Centrifuge drum RHEINSTAHL HUTTENWERKE AG 17 March 1970 [22 March 1969] 12754/70 Heading BID [Also in Division F4] A hollow centrifuge drum 1 has elegonated perforations with rounded ends 4 in its wall, the length of each perforation being between one and a half times and twice the distance apart between the straight sides of the perforations. When in use the drum 1 is subjected to the orthogonal stresses indicated by the arrows 2, 3, the stress 3 being the greater. It is stated that as the direction of elongation of the perforations is parallel to the greater stress 3, the stresses occuring in use in the vicinity of the perforations are reduced.
