Abstract

1301309 Rotary shaft seals HALBERGERHUTTE GmbH 13 Nov 1970 [11 July 1970] 54229/70 Heading F2B In a centrifugal pump for hot media the impeller shaft 1 is sealed and cooled where it extends through the pump casing 3 by means comprising a cooling jacket 4 which is sealingly fitted in the casing 3, surrounds the shaft with an annular clearance gap 11 and forms with the casing a cooling chamber through which coolant, e.g. water, is circulated via inlet and outlet passages 9, 10 in the casing, an end face 17 of the jacket 4 abutting stuffing- box packing 12 for the shaft. O-rings in grooves 5 in the jacket seal it to the casing and a helical rib 8 extends between the inlet end outlet portions 6, 7 of the cooling chamber. The shaft is fitted with a protective sleeve 16 and a guide ring 14 is disposed between the gland 15 and the packing 12.
