1299325 Mono- and dialkyl phosphites STICKSTOFFWERK PIESTERITZ VEB 11 May 1971 14222/71 Heading C2P Equimolar mixtures of mono- and dialkyl phosphites are prepared by adding phosphorus trioxide and an alkanol (simultaneously and continuously or successively) in pure or dissolved form to a mixture of mono- and dialkyl phosphites or to an inert solvent in a mole ratio of phosphorus trioxide: alkanol of less than 1 : 6, at a temperature not exceeding 60‹ C. and with vigorous stirring, followed by a post-reaction period of 5 to 60 minutes. The inert solvent may be benzene or hexane, and when a mixture of phosphites is used as starting material, the mixture may be dissolved in a similar inert solvent.
