Abstract

1298275 Automatic exchange equipment INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 17 March 1970 [19 March 1969] 12653/70 Heading H4K In a switching matrix having a plurality of crosspoint switches, for connecting any first wire to any second wire, not all the switches associated with any one first wire are operable by the same control means. As shown in Fig. 1 which uses PNPN rectifiers to make the crosspoint connections, the operating wire G1 controls rectifiers K11 K12, K23, K24 so that in the event of a failure on this operating wire, connection can still be made from the row line E1 to a column line through rectifiers K13, K14 controlled through operating wire G2. In the modification shown in Figure 3 the row wire E1 forms crosspoints both in the first and second row positions at K11, K12 and K23, K24 respectively and this construction can be used in crossbar switches to avoid distorting the operating rods. In a further modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the operating wires are disposed diagonally across the matrix. (For Figures see next column.)
