1297861 R.M.S. measurement of irregular waveforms HARTMANN & BRAUN AG 6 Feb 1970 [7 Feb 1969] 5765/70 Heading G1U In order to measure the r.m.s. value of an irregular waveform E, a thermo-converter 2 is alternately connected 1 to the input E during a measuring period, and to the output 9, 10 of a high gain amplifier 4 during a reference period, the input to the amplifier being derived from a storage device 3 which is arranged to store the output of the thermo-converter 2 during measuring periods and to pass to the amplifier 4 the difference between the stored value and the signal produced by the thermo-converter 2 during adjacent reference periods. The output signal from the amplifier can either be applied to an analogdigital converter, not shown, or it can be applied to a subsidiary storage unit 8 to control a meter 15.
