1297759 Money dispensers DIGITAL SECURITY SYSTEMS Inc 18 June 1971 [18 June 1970] 28641/71 Headings G4V and G4X A money dispenser comprises a rotatable receptacle 66, Fig. 2, from which money can be withdrawn by the customer, but which is normally inaccessible, canisters 32 in which bank notes are housed and from which they are transported to receptacle 66 by a conveyer 36, a counter 68 which counts transported notes, and a comparator (122), Fig. 5 (not shown), which allows access to the receptacle when the number of notes required by the customer and the number counted by counter 68 are the same. In the embodiment shown, the customer enters a cheque at slot 10, Fig. 1, and an identification card at slot 12. These documents are read, and the read data compared. If the comparison is satisfactory, a currency decoder causes actuation of appropriate ones of solenoids 46 to cause dispensing of notes from respective canisters 32 via cam, ratchet and pawl mechanism 48-58, Fig. 2. Dispensed notes are received in receiver 74 of receptacle 66 and if the counts are the same (see above), a door (26), Fig. 4 (not shown), which comprises plates (218, 220) separated by a resilient pad 222, is released by a lock assembly (70) and may be swung inwardly about spring hinge (216) to allow access to receiver 74. Finally, the cheque is transferred to a store and the identification card returned to the customer. If the comparison of data is unsatisfactory the cheque and card are immediately returned to the customer. If comparison is satisfactory, but the counts differ, receptacle 66, Fig. 2, is rotated and the contents of receiver 74 are dumped in cash box 84. Door (26) remains locked and the cheque and card are returned to the customer. If coinage is required, this is delivered to receiver 74 from coin dispenser 69, Fig. 1. In a modification, the dispenser is described as coupled to a data processing system (142), Fig. 6 (not shown), which for example, contains details of an entire payroll, the dispenser being actuated by an employee's identification card. Alternatively, direct entry against accounts may be made as cheques are cashed. Note dispensing.-Canisters 32, which may be grouped together in casings 85, 86, Fig. 1, uniquely positionable within the dispenser by means of a keying assembly 282-288, Fig. 8 (not shown), each comprise interhinged plates (250) pivoted on pins (256). The notes are stored between adjacent plates (250) to be released when the plates separate as pins (256) are engaged by sprocket (262). Released notes exit as pairs of plates are indexed into alignment with shoot (44). Each receiver 74 has a re-entrant internal surface (202).
