Abstract

1297728 Mixing &c O PFRENGLE 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 20825/71 Heading B1C Powder supplied by a conveyer d to the interior of a rotary mixing drum A is carried by the drum to the upper part of the drum to contact a scraper e in the upper quadrant of the drum, the powder then falling as a curtain which is sprayed with liquid from a nozzle c. Moistened powder from the mixing drum passes to an agglomerating drum B rotating at a speed insufficient to cause the powder to reach the upper part of the drum. In a modification the agglomerating drum is integral with the mixing drum but is of smaller diameter. In a further modification the drums are integral and frusto conical, and a scraper extends over the length of the combined drums. The smaller frusto conical portion may be used for mixing the product with dry powder and for drying.
