Abstract

1297321 Cassette recorder S MURATA 5 May 1971 [9 May 1970(3)] 13114/71 Heading G5R In a miniature type tape cassette recorder, inward movement of a control plate carrying erase and record/reproduce heads and a pinch roller, switches the recorder from its stop to its record/reproduce mode and pivotal movement of the plate switches it to its fast forwarding or fast rewind modes. In its record /reproduce mode a gravity operated cam responsive to the orientation of the recorder switches the recorder to recording or reproducing operation. Motor 31 operated via switch 86 drives the flywheel 72 of capstan 73, and idler 84 via belt 83 and pulleys 74, 78 respectively and also drives idlers 41, 42 mounted on pivotable plate 51 via belt 85 from the flywheel 72. To switch the recorder to record/reproduce operation (Figs 6 and 7, not shown) control plate 43 is moved by operation of control knob 17 in the direction B until pin 98 on the plate is engaged and held by spring operated latch 69. During this movement erase and record/reproduce heads 44, 45 and pinch roller 46 enter the cassette and engage the tape, the latter against capstan 73; pin 63 moves in slot 62a and pivots lever 64 against the action of spring 67 to operate motor switch 86; part 80 of the plate moves away from pin 79 on lever 76 so that this can be pivoted by spring 81 to move the driven idler 84 into contact with hub 37 driving the cassette wind reel; and assuming the recorder is orientated for record operation gravity cam 56 engages arm 55 of three arm lever 53 and again assuming the cassette carries tape for recording so that a part thereof engages cam 59a on pivotable member 59 and moves this out of the path of arm 57 of the lever, the cam rotates the lever to operate switch 61 for the recording mode. For play back the recorder would be orientated so that the gravity cam would not engage arm 55 of the three arm lever 53. The recorder is switched off by further pressure on knob 17 in the B direction which releases the latch 69 so that under the action of spring 67 the control plate is moved outwardly to its initial position. For fast rewind (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown) knob 17 and plate 43 are moved to the left in Fig. 4 whereby spring member 50 secured to the plate pivots plate 51 to move idler 42 into engagement with the drive hub 38 of the cassette rewind reel. At the same time pin 63 moving in slot 62b pivots lever 64 clockwise to energize the drive motor at switch 86. For fast forwarding (Figs. 10 and 11, not shown) the operation is similar except that the plate is moved to the right and the plate 15 is pivoted in the opposite direction by spring 49 to move idler 41 into engagement with the drive hub of the wind reel of the cassette.
