1295768 Chord indicators; transposing S BORRUSO 21 May 1971 [22 May 1970] 24911/70 Heading G5X In order to indicate the positions in which fingers may be placed on the strings of a fretted string instrument, an indicator, Fig. 19, having means 18 to indicate the notes of a required chord to be used in conjunction with table 12, has a representation 19 of the frets and strings formed on its base 11 such that when transparent members, e.g. Fig. 21, are placed over the representation 19 the position of the fingers to produce the note of that member is superposed on said strings. A member 22 is provided for each of notes indicated in the outer circle 12 marked on the base and all the members 22 are riveted together through the hole 20. The movable disc 13 has a pointer 14 enscribed on it which is set to the particular key note of the chord and the movable points 15-17 are set to the respective numerals on the inner circle 13. The reverse of the base, Fig. 22, carries fixed annulii 23, 24 and rotatable circles 24, 25 which may be used to determine related chords or key transpositions. A further embodiment described a circular indicator performing the same functions or a slide rule type arrangement. Rotating portions 5 and disc 3 effect the representation of the individual notes and the frets respectively while discs 2 and 4 form a chord indicator, the notes of a chord of a key note of the outer ring of disc 2 being shown through the window in the respective segment of disc 4, e.g. Dominant 7 segment, in line with F# gives the notes of that chord.
