Abstract

1295472 Mandrel; rollers IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 Feb 1970 [25 Feb 1969] 9956/69 Headings F2P and F2V A cantilevered mandrel includes an impermeable head portion next the mandrel mounting a coaxial gas permeable tail portion of smaller diameter and a gas supply for providing a gas cushion around the tail portion. As shown both portions can be made up from units 34 which are hollow cylinders and these are supported on a shaft 35 having adjustable gas ports 45. The head portion may be rotatable and may comprise units of a different construction from the tail portion or of identical construction but surrounded with a gas impermeable layer. Gas is supplied to the mandrel via pipe 43.
