1295252 Ventilator for colostomy bag R WOODALL 5 Aug 1970 [6 Aug 1969] 39319/ 69 Heading A5R A device for use with a colostomy bag comprises a hood 1 fitted into the mouth of the bag such that waste products pass from the stoma inlet 2, through the hood and into the bag, a filter device 6 and a pipe 5 connecting the hood to the filter device whereby gas from the bag may be rendered odourless before passing into the atmosphere. Preferably a frusto conical guard 9 with apertures 10 is provided within the hood to prevent waste products fouling the lower end of the pipe. The filter device consists of a sponge 7, treated with a disinfectant contained within a perforated plastics casing 6. A washable sheet 11 attaches the bag to the patient.
