Abstract

1295056 Slip casting DOULTON & CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [17 March 1970] 12885/70 Heading B5A An installation for the pressure casting of slip in porous moulds includes a station 6 at which the moulds are mounted one after the other on a transporter unit 1, a station 7 where the moulds are removed in turn from the unit and pressurizing means for maintaining superatmospheric pressure on the slip in each mould whilst the mould is conveyed from station 6 to station 7. The pressure may be in the range 50-200 p.s.i. and the transporter unit may be intermittently rotated and associated with an auxiliary conveyer system 2 which feeds the moulds in a closed circuit to and from the unit. During mould conveyance from the unit by the auxiliary conveyer surplus slip is drained off and the cast products removed. Slip may be supplied to the moulds at or before reaching station 6.
