Abstract

1294356 Blow-moulding water traps Mc- ALPINE & CO Ltd and J E McALPINE 19 April 1971 [23 Oct 1969] 50187/69 Heading B5A U-shaped water traps are formed by blow- or vacuum-moulding a plastics tube, the trap having inlet and outlet limbs, an interconnecting U-bend and a restriction forming a neck in the inlet limb of smaller external diameter than the inlet limbs itself. The neck may be, as moulded, of greater wall thickness than the inlet limb, but may be internally machined. The outlet limb may also be provided with such a neck. A plastics tube may be extruded, a blowing mandrel inserted therein, and the mould halves closed therearound to squeeze the tube therebetween and air blown through the mandrel. The neck may be beaded or screw-threaded.
