Abstract

1291933 Filtering ofgases and adsorption BAHCO VENTILATION AB 16 Oct 1970 49341/70 Heading B1T Solid, liquid, and/or gaseous impurities are removed from a gas stream by feeding powdered adsorbent 3 into the gas upstream of casing 5, which encloses a .vertically orientated endless filter band 6, through which the gas passes inwards to outlet 7, depositing the adsorbent on the outer surface where it filters and adsorbs impurities, the. adsorbent and impurities being blown off the band where it passes round nozzle 10, 11. The adsorbent may be active carbon or diatomaceous earth, which is discharged after use, or it may be a metal oxide or carbonate, in which cases it is recirculated to hopper 2, where a grinding mill exposes new surfaces before feeding it into the gas again. Outlet 7 is connected to a suction fan. The apparatus may remove soot; SO 3 mist and gaseous H 2 S and SO 2 from smoke.
