Abstract

1290970 Corrugating thermoplastic sheets SQLVAY & CIE 29 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 61583/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division D1] A device for corrugating hot thermoplastic sheets, e.g. of P.V.C., comprises continuous metal wires 8 supported by shells 6 on driven endless chains 3, and disposed in the direction of travel of a sheet 9 through the device so as to deform the sheet into corrugations having a polygonal cross-section, Fig. 2, when it is passed between them. The shells 6 are backed by fixed or movable supports 5 in the deforming section of the device but in the remaining section 10, the bands leave the shells and travel through a wider radius of curvature past guides 11, so that they are not bent beyond their elastic limit. The bands can be warmed by heaters 12, and cooled by cold air jets disposed in the deforming section of the device.
