1290563 Oxadiazole derivatives E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 31 July 1970 37137/70 Heading C2C The invention comprises 3-amino-5-undecyl- 1,2,4-oxadiazole and acid addition salts thereof. They may be prepared by reacting dodecanoyl cyanamide with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in the presence of pyridine to form the oxadiazole and, if desired, reacting this with an organic or inorganic acid, e.g. hydrohalic acids, sulphuric, nitric, phosphoric, oxalic, maleic, tartaric, citric, acetic and succinic acids, to form acid addition salts. The dodecanoyl cyanamide used as starting material may be obtained by reacting dodecanoyl chloride with cyanamide. The compounds may be used as the active ingredients in nematocides and herbicides in conjunction, if desired, with known adjuvants.
