Litters.-An ambulance stretcher of the kind having telescopic side members to permit its use in confined places, such as mines, comprises a central stationary part with side tubes d into which the side members e<1>, f<1> of the end parts are adapted to slide. The stretcher is adapted to be mounted upon a carriage, Fig. 4, by means of tongues g projecting from the central part d and which fit in recesses a<3> formed in brackets a<4> spring-mounted at l upon a wheeled frame i. The tongues and recesses have each a circular part and an elongated lateral extension, as shown in Fig. 4, and there may be a securing-pin m. A box c for accessories may be provided. The stretcher may carry an air bed or mattress on wire netting extending between the side bars. The stretcher may also be mounted upon a road carriage.
