Abstract

1290213 Glass composition CARL-ZEISSSTIFTUNG [trading as JANAER GLASWERK SCHOTT & GEN] 23 June 1970 [25 June 1969] 30452/70 Heading C1M A glass comprises the following constituents expressed as percentages by weight: SiO 2 48- 50; Li 2 O 0-0À5; Na 2 O 0-0À7; K 2 O 0À3-1À0; BaO 10-14; ZnO 2-7; PbO 30-45; Sb 2 O 3 0À3-1À0; the sum of the alkali metal oxide amounting to 0À3 to 2À0, the balance, if any, being compatible constituents. Up to 2% by weight of the glass may consist of CdO, SrO, WO 3 and/or Al 2 O 3 . The glass is produced from a batch introduced into a glass melting tank at 1440‹ C. and refined at a temperature of 1480‹ to 1500‹ C. and cast at a viscosity of between 300 and 500 poises (corresponding to temperatures of 1420-1360‹ C.). The glass is used in making delay lines.
