Abstract
1289151 Packaging foodstuffs; containers for foodstuffs PRODUCTOS SELECTOS DEL CERDO SA and J M CASTELL 30 Oct 1969 53121/69 Headings B8 and B8D A foodstuff comprising liquid and solid ingredients is packaged in a sealed container with the ingredients separated by an apertured plate 9 so that the liquid ingredient can be strained off to leave the solid ingredient in the container, the ends of which are appropriately marked. As shown, the container 1 is closed at one end by a cover 2 into which is inserted a solid foodstuff 4, 5, 6 which is then covered by an apertured tight fitting separator 9. Soup paste 8 and a broth 11 are then placed in the container so that the broth submerges the foodstuff and fills the container and a cover 10 is applied to seal the container. In use the container is heated in water to cook the contents, the cover is punctured to enable the broth to be poured off and the container is then inverted and the cover 2 is cut or torn out to allow removal of the solid foodstuff 4, 5, 6. The covers 2 and 10 are provided with a mark or symbol to indicate the ends of the container at which the liquid and solids are respectively located. When a soup paste is not used, the solids and the broth are both introduced through the end 3 of the container in which case the broth may be dispensed by puncturing the cover 2.
