Abstract

1288859 Ink ribbon mechanism COLUMBIA-GREAT LAKES CORP 4 Dec 1970 [13 April 1970] 57821/70 Heading B6F [Also in Division B8] A reel for page-width ink ribbon 12 comprises a fibrous core 16 and a plastics reinforcing bushing 20, the bushing comprising an inner portion 22 for insertion into an end of the core 16 and provided with teeth 24 for penetrating the core, and an outer portion 28 provided with slots 42 for engagement with driving means. The teeth 34 are of saw-tooth form directed alternately in opposite directions for positive engagement for feed in opposite directions. The bushing may be stapled to the core as at 45, and may be coloured according to the gauge of material wound on the core. The fibrous core may comprise overlapping layers of spirally wound cardboard strips and a wax coating on its outer surface.
