1288602 Knitting-machines K FLAD 3 Oct 1969 [3 Oct 1968 (2)] 48684/69 Addition to 12004/68 Heading D1C [Also in Division G3] The machine of the main invention is modified by providing a signal distributor so that each output of the pattern information readout is connected to several electro-magnets whereby the pattern is repeated several times across the machine width. The pattern tape bears several patterns. In one embodiment strips 2, equal in number to the number of read-outs are provided across a board or drum. Each is provided with a peg 7 for connection to the read out, and a series of plugs 6 set in the base of L-shaped arms 3. Connectors 4 extending transversely to the strips are pivotally mounted in the arms. The connectors are provided with knives 19 which contact the plugs 6 and are connected to terminals 21 for connection to the electromagnets. Spring strips 17 hold the connectors in an operative position. The connectors can be pivoted to an inoperative position and moved longitudinally. The number of plugs 6 and corresponding terminals 21 along a strip equals the number of pattern repeats along the machine width. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4, rows of contact plates 103 are joined transversely below the board by strips. A slider member having connections to the electromagnets is movable along guides 108 and lockable in set positions determined by a rack 105. Pattern tapes for the machine includes information for several patterns. An endless pattern tape for e.g. three patterns I. II, III is set out with inter-leaved information for the various courses 1, 2, 3 &c. The information being grouped according to the courses thus I 1 , II 1 , III 1 L 2 .. In other embodiments complete patterns follow one another, but the courses are interleaved, see Fig. 14. The pattern may thus be read in one direction up to halfway then reversed, to return to the starting point. Reading direction is maintained so as to reach the next pattern. Information relating to one course is punched in an area of several rows by several colours. Information governing the feed is punched, additionally, as three holes. Holes 88 signal that a certain stage, e.g. mid-way has been reached in the reading.
