Abstract
1287556 Rim testing D TRENNER [trading as W H MUNZPRUFER WALTER HANKE] 14 Aug 1970 [16 Oct 1969 3 Dec 1969] 39327/70 Heading G4V A coin 20 is tested by a two-armed sensing lever 24 and if it has edge beads and is of acceptable dimensions, pivots around a sensing pin 26 on one arm to roll down a shoot 39. An acceptable coin 20 inserted in a slot 13 drops until an edge bead contacts the sensing pin 26 to pivot in a first direction the sensing lever 24 about an axis 23. The opposing edge of the coin 20 then contacts a ramp 30 on the second arm of the lever 24, to pivot the lever in the opposite direction and trap the coin 20 between the sensing pin 26 and a wall of the shoot 39. The coin 20 pivots around the sensing pin 26 until its edge moves away from the ramp 30, whereon the lever 24 again pivots in the first direction to free the coin 20 into the "accept" shoot 39. Rimless and too-thin coins will not pivot about the sensing pin 26, but will drop vertically into a reject shoot 100; too-thick coins will jam against the lever 24 for release by a knob (not further disclosed). The movement of lever 24 is limited by a stop 33; the sensing pin 26 and ramp 30 project through apertures into the shoot 39. In a second embodiment (Fig. 4, not reproduced) coins roll down a shoot (43) that alters its inclination adjacent the sensing lever (40). A third embodiment (Fig. 5, not reproduced) employs an inclined shoot having a projection (47) adjacent the sensing lever (40).
