Abstract

1286780 Athermapeutic apparatus DIAPULSE CORP OF AMERICA 15 June 1971 [2 July 1970] 28039/71 Heading A5R An ultra-short wave athermapeutic apparatus for therapeutic treatment of a patient comprises oscillation generating and doubling means 1 operable to produce continuous high frequency electrical oscillations of predetermined frequency which are doubled to produce an output from the oscillating and doubling means. The generating and doubling means includes a crystal (XTAL) a keying amplifier 2 which includes a transistor (Q1) providing the keying action to make tube (V2) alternately conducting and non-conducting thereby producing a pulsed R.F. signal. The keyer amplifier includes a safety relay (RY1) operable to interrupt the operation of said oscillating and doubling means upon excess current flowing through the plate circuit of a tube V2, a power amplifier and doubler 4 connected to the output of said keying amplifier 2 for doubling the frequency output therefrom and provided with a plurality of switches (SW1 through SW6) selectively operable to preselect the peak output power produced by said power amplifier and doubler. A treatment head 5 is connected to said power amplifier and doubler and may be juxtaposed with a patient for transmitting the high frequency pulsed oscillations into selected areas of a patient's body. A pulse generator 3 is provided with a plurality of switches SW7 through SW12 selectively operable to cause said keying amplifier to establish a preselected pulse duration and frequency of the output oscillations of said keying amplifier and said pulse generator is connected to a frequency meter 6 and causing said meter to register the power output from the athermapeutic apparatus. There is also a low voltage source 8 to supply a plurality of low voltages of differing magnitude via resistors 37, 38, 39 and zener diodes D13, D14, D15 connected across the rectified D.C. output, and a high voltage source 9 operable after the lapse of a preselected time period to the thermionic cathodes of the tubes (V1), (V2), (V3), (V4), as well as the heater filament of the time-delay device TDR to supply a plurality of relatively high voltages. A power control 7 is manually operable via a plurality of switches SW13 through SW15 to cause activation of both the low and high voltage sources 8, 9 and thereby cause the transmission of high frequency oscillation of preselected pulse duration and frequency from said treatment head to a patient.
