1286437 Irrigation pipelines R G CRANE 3 Aug 1971 36466/71 Heading AID [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] An irrigation system comprises a P.V.C. pipe 12 held within an aluminium member 13. Carriages (32) (Fig. 1, not shown) are slidably engaged on a dovetail section web 20 on the aluminium member, and supports vertical nozzle assemblies (30). Fluid is fed from pipe 12 via branch connectors (14) which pass downwardly through a slot 15, which slot 15 extends along the lower part of member 13. Hoses (50) connect the branch connectors (14) to the nozzles (30), and a horizontal distribution of the spray thus produced is ensured by a small horizontal baffle (46) placed directly above each nozzle outlet. The carriages are large enough to prevent spray falling on the hoses (50) and liquid falling on member 13 is collected in gutters 16, 18 disposed adjacent the slot 15. The plastics inner pipe 12 may be composed of a plurality of sections joined end to end by cemented spigot and socket joints. Adjacent lengths of member 13 may be joined by a push fit lower saddle 52, of rigid PVC, and an upper saddle 55. The lower saddle is shaped so as to ensure continuity of the gutters 16, 18, while the upper saddle has a ring 56 where from the system may be supported. The system is suitable for distributing water, fertilizer and herbicides.
