Indexing. - A dividing- attachment for milling and like machines consists of a foundation plate a with a boss b on which are rotatably mounted a dividing- plate c and a worm wheel e adapted to be fixed relatively by a spring plunger m, adjustable radially in a slot in the worm wheel so that it may engage circumferential rows of holes on either side of the dividing plate. The dividing plate may be secured to the foundation plate by a clip n when the main adjustment only is used. Gearing with the worm wheel e is a worm e', the shaft f of which is mounted in a bearing g carried by a pivoted bracket g' and which carries an auxiliary foundation plate o, divided to form a vernier reading with the division on a loosely-mounted auxiliary dividing- plate p, which is rotated by a spring plunger t<2> in the handle t<1> which rotates the worm, a clip s being provided to secure the dividing plate to the foundation plate. The device is attached to the dividing head by a ring v and a hollow collar w to which the main worm wheel is secured with capacity for slight adjustment by bolts y and slots w<2>.
