Abstract

1284441 Knitting machines TMM (RESEARCH) Ltd 15 Jan 1970 [17 Jan 1969] 2894/69 Heading D1C In a warp-knitting machine the tension in the yarns 1 passing from the supply to the knitting elements is controlled by a resilient member 3 with a loading part 2 which engages the yarns and, as the tension increases and decreases, executes a closed loop. As shown, rail 2 is carried by spring assemblies 3 each of which comprises a strip of steel 5 bent into a circle and secured by a bracket 6 to the machine frame. Each spring 5 carries a rigid nose piece 8, e.g. of steel or nylon, on which tension rail 2 is clipped and the pressure of the yarns on rail 2 causes the rail to move in an asymmetrical closed loop. In another embodiment, two tension wires 12, 13 pass through the upper ends of pillars 14, 15 secured to spring 5 symmetrically with respect to a diameter passing through the point of attachment to bracket 6. Spring 5 may be elliptical. (For Figures see next column)
