Abstract

1283367 α - [p - (1 - Cyclohexenyl) phenyl] propionic acid CIBA-GEIGY AG 25 Sept 1969 [11 Oct 1968 6 Nov 1968 8 May 1969 21 Aug 1969] 47182/69 Heading C2C The novel title compound and salts thereof are prepared by hydrolysing α-[p-(1-cyclohexenyl) phenyl) propionitrile, and if desired, converting the resulting acid into salts. The racemic mixture obtained by the above process may be resolved by treating it with optically active bases, for example, cinchonidine or (-)-α-phenyl-ethylamine. Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for eneteral, parenteral or topical administration and having analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity, contain the above novel compound or salts thereof in admixture with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.
