Abstract
1282854 Anaerobic adhesives TOAGOSEI CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO Ltd 13 Feb 1970 [14 Feb 1969 1 March 1969 17 March 1969 31 March 1969 10 July 1969] 7167/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] An anaerobic cure composition for bonding surfaces together comprises a peroxide, a polymerization accelerator and a polyester polyacrylate monomer or oligomer which is the esterification product of a glycol with an acrylic acid, which may be substituted (e.g. acrylic, methacrylic, ethacrylic or α-haloacrylic acid) and at least one polycarboxylic acid which is a tricarboxylic acid, a tetracarboxylic acid, a tetrahydrophthalic acid or itaconic acid, stabilized against addition polymerization by the incorporation therein of a polymerization inhibitor. Specified polymerization accelerators are tertiary amines, oximes, thiurams and Malachite Green. The peroxide may be hydrogen peroxide or an organic peroxide, hydroperoxide or perester. The stability of the composition is improved by inclusion of a small amount of oxalic acid. Inhibitors or UV absorbers may also be present.
