Abstract

1282813 Battery terminals RICHARDSON CO 24 April 1970 [28 May 1969] 19866/70 Heading HlB A battery case 10 of synthetic resin is provided with an L-shaped lead terminal 18, one leg of which extends horizontally through the side wall of the case through opening 14, and the other leg 21 extends vertically upward within the side wall to substantially the upper edge thereof and is connected to a horizontal plate strap 31 joined to the upper edge of a cell plate, the vertical leg having a substantially flat inner, exposed surface for most of its height which allows ready connection of the horizontal strap at any point along the height of the vertical leg so as to compensate for use of cell plates within the case of different heights. Terminal 18 may be provided with a steel insert 19 having internal threads for making external connections. The one piece synthetic resin cover 12 has recesses for receiving the upper edges of case 10 and the cell partitions and also terminal leg 21. The recesses are filled with adhesive 42 which seals the cover to the case.
