1279077 Process for purification of L-serine and methyl ester F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 23238/71 Heading C2C A process for separating L-serine methyl ester hydrochloride and L-serine respectively from a mixture containing other amino acids, particularly L-threonine, which process comprises converting the amino acids present in the mixture into the corresponding methyl ester hydrochlorides, separating the L-serine methyl ester hydrochloride by crystallization and, if desired, converting same into L-serine. The preferred solvent system for crystallization is ethyl acetate and a C 1-3 alkanol.
