Abstract

127,820. Lender, M., and Heidelberg, P. June 1, 1918, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Addition to 158,522, [Class 4, Aeronauties]. Multiple-way valves.-In apparatus of the kind described in the parent Specification for instructing aeroplane pilots and having the cockpit 1, Fig. 1, connected by a cardan joint to a bracket 3 rotatable about a vertical axis on a framework 4, fore-and-aft or lateral oscillations of the cock-pit are obtained by means of fluid-pressure apparatus comprising four cylinders 10 connected to the cardan joint and having their piston-rods jointed to a part 2 of the cockpit. The distribution of pressure fluid to the cylinders 10 may be controlled, for example, by two three-way cocks, one controlling two cylinders and being operated by hand, and the other operating the other two cylinders by foot. Fig. 5 shows a single distributing-valve comprising a part-spherical member 29 pressed upwards by a spring 30 and normally covering four ports a - - d leading to the cylinders. Operation of the member 29 by means of a handle 25 may connect either of these ports to an atmospheric port f or a reservoir port 28. In another form, the four ports are controlled by four lift valves actuated by a universally-mounted plate connected to the handle 25.
