Abstract
1276890 Laundry presses ISAAC BRAITHWAITE & SON ENGS Ltd 19 April 1971 [6 Nov 1969] 54376/69 Heading D1A A garment press comprises a stationary pressing head 40 and a plurality of bucks mounted on a central shaft 12 which is rotated by a Geneva Star mechanism to move the bucks between successive stations. As shown the Geneva Star mechanism comprises a pair of cranks 22, 23 driven by a motor 24 and engageable with slots in the star member 21 to provide a dwell period of four to six seconds and an indexing period of from one to three seconds. The bucks are pressed against the head 40 in turn by a pneumatic ram 42 which has an adjustable intermediate stop position approaching the adjustable closed position. Each buck has a frame garment holder 34' which is adjustable by a lever 36' engaging a rail 35' which is discontinued at the head 40 or by a pneumatic ram controlled by microswitches as the buck is indexed (Fig. 1, not shown). A steam line 41, vacuum line 42 and condensate line 43 to the bucks are also controlled by microswitches. (For Figures see next page)
