Abstract
1,274,829. Organotin compounds. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. 19 April, 1971 [10 Feb., 1970], No. 21453/71. Heading C2J. [Also in Division C4] Compounds of general formula where A is C 1-14 alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl (especially p-methoxyphenyl, p-N,N-dimethylaminophenyl, p-chlorophenyl or o-methoxyphenyl, or R 2 N - where each R is C 1-14 alkyl, and each R<SP>1</SP> is aryl or C 1-14 alkyl are prepared by reacting A-SO 2 -CH 2 M, where M is an alkali metal or -MgX with R<SP>1</SP> 3 SnX, where X is halogen at- 60‹ to 30‹ C. usually in the presence of an inert solvent or diluent such as an aliphatic hydrocarbon or ether, cyclic ether (especially THF) or trialkylamine. The organolithium or organomagnesium halide reactant is prepared by reaction of a methyl sulphone A-SO 2 -CH 3 with an alkali metal hydride, alkyl, or aryl or an alkylmagnesium halide. Numerous reactants and products are specified. The compounds have insecticidal, acaricidal, bacteriostatic, fungicidal and herbicidal properties and may be used in the form of dusts, wettable powders, emulsifiable concentrates, suspensions in a non- solvent such as water, solutions in emulsified hydrocarbons or halogenated hydrocarbons or as aerosols in CClF 3 and, optionally, benzene.
