Abstract

1,274,753. Bottle handling plant; packaging bottles. DAWSON BROS. Ltd. 12 March, 1970 [12 March, 1969], No. 12902/69. Headings B8C and B8T. A handling plant for bottles, containers &c. comprises two or three conveyers extending alongside the same side of a bottle cleaning apparatus, bottle unloading and delivery means for removing bottles from crates on each conveyer to the cleaning apparatus, means for conveying these bottles to bottle filling and capping apparatus, and crate filling means for refilling the crates on the conveyers with filled bottles. Crates of empty bottles are fed by stack filing apparatus 3 to the two or three conveyers extending in parallel along one side of the bottle washing apparatus 19. The conveyers each comprise, in line, a full crate conveyer 5, an empty crate conveyer 7 and a full crate conveyer 8. Each crate moves along the conveyers 5 to the bottle unloaders 15 at which the bottles are placed on feed conveyers 16 and delivered to the washing apparatus 19 and thence by conveyers 21 through the filling and capping units 23 to the crate refilling units 24. The empty crates from conveyers 5 may be washed on conveyers 7 by units 17 before being refilled by the units 24. They are then transported by conveyers 8 to crate stackers 25, the stacks being grouped by units 10. Bottle detectors may be used in the system.
