A method of making a sealing device comprises forming a flexible envelope 2 around a porous elastically compressible material 1, exhausting air from the envelope to compress the strip and sealing the envelope. In Fig. 4 the device is positioned in a groove 7 in a window frame 6 and the envelope pierced to allow expansion of the material to fill the space 9 between the frame and a wall surface 10.
