Abstract

1,274,128. Optical fibres. INSTITUT KIBERNETIKI AKADEMII NAUK GRUZINSKOI S.S.R. March 19, 1970, No.13187/70. Heading G2J. An optical fibre has a transparent envelope 2 of lower refractive index than a transparent liquid 1 forming the care of the fibre. It is formed as a capillary filled with liquid either by capillary action or auction. The liquid which may be benzene contains a luminophore, such as a rare earth metal chelate, when the fibre is used in lasers, or a pigment such as chrome or neodymium. The envelope may be molybdenum glass. Two specific examples are given.
