Abstract

1,269,099. Continuous transit pickler. MOELLER & NEUMANN G.m.b.H. May 13, 1969 [May 18, 1968], No.24370/69. Heading C7E. A continuous transit pickler for elongated strips comprises an acid container divided into several chambers 3, 4, 5, and 6 by walls or weirs 2, a suspension pit 24 located before the acid container and a device 31 at the exit end of the acid container for pulling a strip 25 therethrough, freely rotatable rollers 26 which support and guide the strip being the only strip engaging means disposed between the suspension pit and the acid container. Should the strip break, e.g. in container 3, valve 12 is opened and acid from 3 drained into tank 16, division walls 34, 35 are inserted as shown, pickling gas, e.g. HCl, is drawn off, cover hoods 20 between 34 and 35 are removed, the strip is apertured at the fracture and a flexible connecting unit inserted, walls 34 and 35 are removed, the acid and hoods replaced and the process is again continued.
