[Also in Division D1] A material locating block for a sewing machine which can be detachably fixed on the work surface thereof comprises a material clamping finger 9 which is power operated to hold material against a location foot 11. A piston rod 5 of a pneumatic piston and cylinder 2, 4 is pivotted to a link 8 fixed to a finger 9. As the piston is moved against a spring 7 the finger 9 descends to the work surface. The material stop is fastened to the work surface either by magnets or by suction cups.
