Abstract

1,268,664. Gas cleaning apparatus. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO., Inc. 21 March, 1969 [19 April, 1968], No. 15067/69. Heading B1R. A gas cleaning apparatus comprises a horizontally disposed gas/liquid contact tray 4 having a plurality of spaced-apart slats pivotally mounted so that they can be rotated from the position shown in which their faces are normal to the gas flow to a position in which the faces lie parallel to the gas flow. The slats may be apertured or have notches in their longitudinal edges. Liquid is supplied to the tray from a sump through a pipe 12 a part stream of the gas to be cleaned being used to lift the liquid. Fillers 6 are arranged above the tray and liquid drains back to the sump through pipes 9.
