1,268,144. Multi-layer coating apparatus. GAF CORP. 6 Aug., 1970 [25 Aug., 1969], No. 37978/70. Heading D1L. A multiple coating is applied to a substrate 11 advancing on a roller 12 by supplying each coating fluid separately to a respective rectangular well 8, 5, 2, each of which has an upper opening at least #in wide, e.g. #-¢in, extending across the whole width of a surface 9, 6, 3 which is inclined at less than 30‹ to the horizontal, and allowing the fluids to flow down the surface, whereby a multiple layer is formed which flows onto the substrate at 10. The layers may have a photographic use.
