Abstract
1,267,037. Jointing by stamping. SHINTO KOGYO K.K. 27 March, 1969 [29 March, 1968], No. 16098/69. Heading B3Q. [Also in Division F2] A method of joining by contracting an outer pipe 1 about an inner pipe 2 comprises using opposed dies 15, 16 having semicylindrical recesses. Steel or copper pipes may be joined, and one or more grooves (9), Fig. 4 (not shown), may be formed in at least one of the pipes. During the operation, edges 17, 18, 19, 20 on the dies deform the tabs 1, Fig. 12 (not shown), before the dies close completely, or an initial deformation may be given before insertion in the dies. The joint may be formed progressively, using a different set of dies for each stage. One of the dies may be stationary and the other operated by an hydraulic piston.
