An apparatus for supplying mould charges or " gobs " 10 to a glass forming machine particularly a Hartford I.S. machine having a series of plural cavity moulds 12 comprises a plurality of sets of fixed inclined troughs 13, there being one set per mould and one trough per mould cavity 15, a set of mould charge deflector scoops 18, 18a corresponding in number to the number of cavities per mould each situated below and coaxial with a molten glass feeder orifice and with its lower end adjacent the upper ends of the troughs, and means for oscillating the scoops in unison each about the axis of the corresponding orifice in a step-bystep fashion whereby to supply gobs to the sets of troughs in a predetermined order. The scoops may each be mounted on a rockable shaft 22, 23 oscillated by means of a sector gear 28 meshing with shaft pinions 27. The gear 28 is oscillated in turn by a continuous web cam 35 engaging cam rollers 33, the contour of the cam being such as to position the scoops sequentially above each set of troughs during one revolution. In modifications the scoops are oscillated by means of a parallel link mechanism operated by a crosshead mounted shaft which is oscillated by the cam. The upper ends of the scoops may be surrounded by a water or air cooled jacket.
