Abstract

1,266,594. Cathode-ray tube circuits; gain control. SIEMENS A.G. 16 Sept., 1969 [17 Sept., 1968], No. 45541/69. Headings H3T and H4T. In a cathode-ray tube display a linear relationship between the X-Y deflection drive and the deflection of the beam across the tube screen is produced and defocusing of the beam with deflection is prevented by controlling the gains of transistor amplier stages TS1, TS3, TS5 (Fig. 2), supplying the X, Y deflection currents IX, IY and the focusing current IF by means of the voltages developed across pairs of semiconductor (magnetic) field-dependent resistors P11, P31; P13, P33, and P15, P35 one of each pair of such resistors being located in the field of a coil FS1 carrying the X-deflection current and the other of each pair being located in the field of a coil FS3 carrying the Y-deflection current. The arrangement operates by virtue of the square law relationship between the resistance of the resistor and the magnitude of the current flowing in the associated coil FS1, FS3. The field-dependent resistors may be connected to the base electrodes of the transistors instead of to the emitters.
