Abstract

1,266,169. Road traffic bollards. TREVOR MORRISON ENG. Ltd. 4 Sept., 1970 [5 Sept., 1969], No. 44000/69. Heading E1G. A traffic bollard comprises a rectangularsection sign-carrying body 3-4 whose lower end 8 is circular and is attached to a circular part of a base 1 by an odd number of symetrically-arranged screw or other elements 9 so that (a) the body 3-4 can be aligned as required independently of the base, and (b) the body can be re-attached after damage in a vehicle collision by turning it through 90‹ or 180‹ to present undamaged portions of the lower end 8 to the screws 9. The body shown is of translucent plastics and comprises a head 4 and stem 3 having a spigot interconnection 10 supporting a platform 11 carrying horizontal and vertical lights 12. A plug 14 for the lights engages a socket 15 in or under a lighting gear tray 16 in the base 1 and may be retained by a cord 17 to ensure that it is pulled out of the socket during a vehicle collision.
