Abstract

1,265,388. Coin tester. LENINGRADSKOE OPYTNO - KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO TORGOVOGO MASCHINSTROENIA. 27 March, 1969 [27 April, 1968], No. 15975/69. Headings G4V and G4X. A coin testing apparatus for testing coins by their magnetic properties comprises a winding support 1, two mutually spaced windings 2, 3, connected to a source of A.C. and a measuring device respectively, such that substantially no inductive coupling exists between the windings until a coin or other object of magnetic material is interposed between said windings. When such a coin or other object is interposed, an E.M.F. is induced in winding 3, the size of which determines whether the coin is acceptable, e.g. for enabling a coin-operated machine. A ferromagnetic shield 5 protects the windings from external electric and magnetic fields and also increases the induced E.M.F. in winding 3.
